Starlink coverage in Ontario: check the address, not a map

People search “Starlink coverage Ontario” hoping for a map that says yes for Muskoka, Haliburton, or a concession road near Kemptville. This page does not have one, on purpose. Starlink decides availability one address at a time, so the useful skill is running that check properly.

Check your Ontario address on Starlink Marc Stevens’ referral: CA$140 cash or service credit. Terms apply. Coverage is address-specific.

Why this page has no Ontario coverage map

This page does not say Starlink is available anywhere in Ontario. Availability is address-specific. Check your address on Starlink’s official Canada site (referral link) for current pricing, hardware offers, and availability.

Starlink’s Canada plans page tells you to get started so you can see the plans and speeds for your area. Its Residential help article says that if an offer does not appear for an address, the plan is not currently available there. That is a per-address answer, and it can change over time. A map on a third-party site would be a guess dressed up as a fact, so Starlink Cottage Lab does not publish one, does not list towns, and does not quote speeds for any part of the province.

The same goes for what a neighbour tells you. A working dish two lots over says their address was offered service and their sky view is clear. It does not say what Starlink will offer you, or what your tree line allows.

How to check an Ontario address, step by step

  1. Pick the address Starlink should register. For a fixed home or cottage, that is the place the dish will live. Residential service is intended for the registered service address on the account.
  2. Use the civic address, not the postal one. Many rural and cottage properties in Ontario get mail at a box in town but have a numbered civic sign at the end of the lane, often called a fire number or 911 number. The civic address is where the dish goes.
  3. Open the check through the referral link and enter the address. You can do this from the city; the check is about the property, not where you are sitting.
  4. Read every plan that appears. Starlink lists some Residential plans as select-area plans, so one may be missing while another is offered. See the Canada pricing page for the plan list.
  5. Note the hardware offer on the same screen. Hardware cost and promotions vary by address. This site does not quote them.
  6. Stop before paying if the property cannot see the sky. Coverage on paper does not fix a blocked view. Do the sky check below first if you can get to the property.

Ontario address situations and what to enter

Running the Starlink address check for common Ontario property types
Property What to enter Watch for
Cottage on a private or seasonal road The civic number on the lane sign plus the road name the township uses. If the road name is not found, try the nearest civic address the checker accepts and confirm the pin is on your lot.
Water-access or island cottage The island or water-access civic address, if the township assigned one. Some checkers place the pin at the marina or mainland landing. Make sure the registered address is the place the dish will be.
Rural home on a concession or sideroad Civic number and road name as written on the property tax bill. Older lot-and-concession descriptions are not addresses. Use the civic number.
New build or severed lot The civic address the municipality issued for the new lot. Very new addresses may not be recognised yet. Try again later rather than registering a neighbour’s address.
Northern or remote camp The civic address if there is one; otherwise the closest one the checker accepts. Read the plan type carefully. A camp you only reach some of the year may be a Roam question, covered on the cottage page.
Town or suburban home The street address. Starlink is one option among wired providers here. The rural guide covers when to keep what you have.

Reading the result

A plan appears

Starlink is offering service at that address today, on the plans listed. That is still not a promise about speed at your dock or kitchen. Starlink lists the 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps Residential plans as caps, and a cap is a ceiling, not a measurement.

Only some plans appear

Normal for select-area plans. Compare what you are offered with the full Canada list and pick from what is on screen.

No offer appears

Starlink’s Residential help article says that means the plan is not currently available for that location. Do not register a different address to get around it. Residential service is meant for the registered address, and Starlink’s own troubleshooting asks whether you are at the service address on the account.

The checker shows a note you did not expect

Whatever message Starlink shows for your address is the current answer. This page will not translate it into a date or a promise.

Before you order: a sky check at the property

Starlink’s setup guide says the dish needs a clear view of the sky to stay connected as satellites move overhead, and that a tree branch, pole, or roof in the way causes interruptions. It tells you to use the Starlink app’s “Check for Obstructions” tool. In much of Ontario cottage country that matters more than the address check. Mixed hardwood and pine around a lot, a rock ridge behind the cottage, or a north-facing shoreline can all leave a good address with a poor install spot.

If you can, run the obstruction check in the season you will use the place. A hardwood canopy in July is a different sky from the same trees in April. If the ground view is blocked, Starlink suggests a roof, pole, or wall. The cottage setup walkthrough and the rural setup guide go through mounts, power, and winter.

Kits and accessories in Canada

Check Starlink first. For many Canadian addresses the hardware offer in Starlink’s own checkout beats retail, and that is also where Marc’s CA$140 referral offer applies. Retail is for when you want a kit or a mount in hand today. Buying at retail does not change whether your Ontario address is offered service, so run the address check first.

Check the Starlink order price first

Retail prices change often and can differ online and in store. Always check the live price and stock on the retailer’s page. Starlink Cottage Lab does not list Amazon.ca kits. Retailer links are plain retailer links today and may become affiliate links in future; the Starlink link above is Marc Stevens’ personal referral.

Common questions

Is Starlink available in Ontario?

This guide does not answer that for the whole province. Starlink decides availability one address at a time. Enter your Ontario civic address on Starlink’s Canada site; if no offer appears, Starlink says the plan is not currently available there.

Is there a Starlink coverage map for Muskoka, Haliburton, or Northern Ontario?

Starlink Cottage Lab does not publish one and does not list towns or speeds. The address check on Starlink’s own site is the answer that counts for a specific property.

Which address should I use for my cottage?

Use the civic address of the property where the dish will be installed, often shown on a numbered sign at the end of the lane. A mailing address in town is not the install address.

My neighbour has Starlink. Does that mean I can get it?

Not necessarily. Their result applies to their address and their sky view. Run the check for your own civic address and do an obstruction check at your own install spot.

Does the CA$140 referral change coverage?

No. It is cash or Starlink service credit when you sign up through Marc Stevens’ link. Terms apply. It does not change what Starlink offers at your address.
